TVK, the newest political party on the block which recently stormed to power in Tamil Nadu and formed an alliance with the Congress, has not yet received an invitation to attend the INDIA bloc meeting today, sources have told India Today. According to these sources, there is still no clarity on whether TVK will attend the meeting at Delhi's Constitution Club, and a decision on inviting the actor-turned-politician Vijay's party is likely to be taken later today. For its part, the Congress, which is TVK's ally in Tamil Nadu, stated that parties without MPs are simply not invited to attend the meeting.

The opposition INDIA bloc is set to hold a crucial meeting in New Delhi on Monday, with representatives of 23 political parties expected to participate. The gathering is an effort to recalibrate strategy, project unity, and address internal differences following recent assembly election setbacks. At present, TVK does not have any MPs and recently offered its lone vacant Rajya Sabha seat to the Congress in a bid to cement their coalition following the assembly election results.

Top opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge of the Congress, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, will be attending the meeting at the Constitution Club. On the other hand, the Uddhav Sena will not attend the Delhi meeting in person, though Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, and Sanjay Raut are likely to participate via video conference. From the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP, Supriya Sule will attend in Delhi. However, the Congress's former pre-poll ally in Tamil Nadu, the DMK, has decided to skip the meeting entirely.

The DMK's refusal to attend the crucial opposition bloc meeting stems from its recent electoral debacle in Tamil Nadu. Following the loss, the party walked out of the INDIA bloc when the Congress joined hands with Vijay's TVK to form a coalition government in the state. Accusing its former ally of betrayal and backstabbing, the DMK has vowed not to participate in any future INDIA bloc meetings.

Meanwhile, a war of words has broken out between TVK and the BJP over the DMK's decision to skip the meeting. Vijay's party has accused Chief Minister MK Stalin of colluding with the RSS, an allegation the BJP has dismissed as audacious. Speaking to reporters, VMS Mustafa, the TVK MLA for Madurai Central, questioned the DMK's absence from the Delhi gathering, asking what kind of drama the DMK was playing, what talks had been held with the RSS, and what positions they had sought in a BJP-led Cabinet. He went on to claim that the DMK now stands exposed as an RSS puppet.

BJP leader Vinoj P Selvam struck back, claiming that TVK itself was at the mercy of the DMK. This new aspect of the fake leak claims has created further complications as those in authority are already trying to regain the trust of the people. Not only is the security of the exam paper an issue but the misinformation that has been spread has been causing fear and doubt among many of the candidates who number in lakhs. The NEET-UG 2026 re-test will be held in pen and paper mode on June 21 between 2 and 5.15 in the afternoon. According to sources, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has instructed officials to address all vulnerabilities of the previous exam cycle before conducting the test.
