In the wake of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Madhya Pradesh police have issued an order for Pakistani nationals holding short-term visas to leave India by tomorrow, an official said on Saturday.
Furthermore, individuals who entered India on medical grounds have been granted an extension of 48 hours, allowing their visas to remain valid until 29 April, he added.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued clear instructions that all short-term visas for Pakistani nationals, except for diplomatic, official, and long-term visas, should be considered cancelled, with the deadline for departure set for 27 April.
Those here on medical grounds have been given a relief period of 48 hours, with their visas valid until 29 April. An order has been issued to ensure strict compliance with these instructions, and it is being diligently enforced in Bhopal as well,” Bhopal Commissioner of Police, Harinarayanchari Mishra, told the media.
The officer further explained that records are being updated to notify Pakistani nationals, and the necessary legal procedures have already commenced in the city.
“There are approximately three to four Pakistani nationals currently in Bhopal on short-term visas. Records are being further updated, and we are including individuals over 80 years of age and children under five years of age in the listings. The legal process has been initiated, and notices will be served to them,” he added.
Similarly, Indore Police have identified Pakistani nationals residing in the district and have served them notices, instructing them to leave the country by 27 April. According to available information, around 16 individuals holding short-term visas are present in the district, including elderly persons.
“According to instructions from the Government of India and the State Government, all visas held by Pakistani nationals, except for long-term, diplomatic, or official visas, have been revoked. They have been given until 27 April to leave the country. Those on medical visas have been granted time until 29 April. The list of such individuals has been prepared, and they are required to depart the country by the declared deadline. We have made all necessary arrangements to ensure their departure,” said Santosh Kumar Singh, Commissioner of Police, Indore.
