Muslim Leaders Meet Kiren Rijiju Discuss Waqf Issues.

On Saturday, a delegation of prominent Muslim religious leaders and scholars from various regions of India met with Union Minority Minister Kiren Rijiju at his residence. The delegation, led by Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty, Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjada Nashin Council and spiritual head of Ajmer Dargah, discussed several pressing issues concerning the Muslim community.

The meeting, coordinated by Shehzad Poonawalla, National Spokesperson of the BJP, focused on concerns related to the Waqf Boards. The leaders expressed their grievances about the current management of Waqf properties and demanded government intervention to address these issues.

They highlighted the problems faced by Muslim communities due to the Waqf Boards and proposed the establishment of a separate Dargah Board to oversee the management of Dargahs.

The delegation voiced strong support for the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), which has been constituted to address issues related to Waqf Boards. They expressed confidence that the JPC would consider the grievances of Dargahs and incorporate suggestions from various stakeholders to improve the management and transparency of Waqf properties.

Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty proposed the creation of help desks at Muslim religious places to provide information about government schemes for minorities. He also called for a separate legislative act to protect Dargahs from alleged Waqf Board mismanagement.

The delegation emphasised the need for better management to prevent land grabbing and corruption, ensuring that Waqf properties benefit the poorest members of the Muslim community.

The delegation included leaders from various states, reflecting a broad representation of the Muslim community across India. Their meeting with Minister Rijiju aimed to seek support for their demands and foster better communication between the government and Muslim religious institutions.
