Dr Somnath Highlights ISROs Impact On Public Services.

India's space program has made significant strides, not only in scientific exploration but also in contributing to the welfare of society. According to ISRO Chairman Dr. S Somnath, the investments made in the space sector have had far-reaching benefits.

Speaking at a program focused on igniting young minds for space exploration, he emphasised how these investments have led to substantial employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly.

The space program has provided jobs to lakhs of people and has positively impacted sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, and natural resource planning.

Dr. Somnath highlighted that the space program's contributions extend beyond economic gains. The technology developed by ISRO has been instrumental in supporting various industries and public services, including crop forecasting and providing vital information to fishermen. These advancements demonstrate the tangible benefits of space exploration for everyday life.

One of the recent milestones in India's space journey was the successful launch of the Earth Observation Satellite (EOS)-08 onboard the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3.

Launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, this mission marked a significant achievement in satellite technology. The EOS-08 mission aimed to design and develop a microsatellite with advanced capabilities, incorporating new technologies that will be crucial for future satellites.

This includes the development of an Integrated Avionics system that combines multiple functions into a single efficient unit, capable of supporting up to 400 GB of data storage.

The success of this mission has opened new possibilities for low-cost space missions and has strengthened international collaboration in space exploration.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar congratulated ISRO on this achievement, acknowledging the potential for increased global cooperation in the space sector.
