Two Indian Navy officers narrowly avoided tragedy yesterday at Rama Krishna Beach in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, when their parachutes became entangled during an operational demonstration rehearsal.
Despite the dramatic fall into the water near the shore, both officers were rescued unharmed, thanks to the quick response of rescue teams.
The incident occurred as preparations were underway for the Eastern Naval Command’s grand Operational Demonstration, scheduled for today. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to be the chief guest at the event, which has drawn significant public interest.
According to reports, the officers, members of the elite MARCOS (Marine Commandos), faced trouble when their parachutes got tangled midair. A video of the incident shows one officer descending with the national flag while the other struggled as the parachutes became entwined, causing both to lose altitude rapidly.
Rescue boats stationed nearby quickly reached the scene, pulling the officers to safety. The mishap, witnessed by a large crowd gathered at Vizag Beach, sparked brief alarm but ended positively as both officers were confirmed safe.

The Eastern Naval Command’s Operational Demonstration is a highlight of Vizag news today, featuring high-speed warship maneuvers, aerial displays by helicopters and fighter jets, amphibious assaults, live combat drills, and a Combat Free Fall by MARCOS.
The event also includes cultural displays like the Horn Pipe Dance and the Beating Retreat Ceremony by the ENC band, showcasing the Navy's discipline and versatility.
The Navy has reassured the public that all safety measures are being reviewed to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the event, promising a memorable experience for visitors at Vizag Beach.
