National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma has called for strict action against a woman CISF constable who allegedly slapped newly elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport.

The incident occurred as Ranaut was en route to Delhi.

Officials confirmed that the constable has been suspended and an FIR has been registered against her.

NCW chairperson Sharma underlined the seriousness of the incident, noting that it involved a breach of security by those entrusted with its enforcement.

Sharma stated, "Strict action should be taken against the lady CISF personnel. We at NCW have taken up this matter with CISF headquarters," in a post on X.

The actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a woman Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Chandigarh airport on Thursday.

According to the source, Ranaut, the MP-elect from Mandi, was involved in an altercation during a security check.

The incident occurred when Ranaut refused to place her phone in the tray and allegedly pushed the security personnel.

Following the confrontation, Ranaut departed for Delhi at 3 PM on a Vistara flight.

The woman CISF personnel involved in the incident hails from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab's Kapurthala district and is the sister of farmer leader Sher Singh Malhiwal.

In a video message, Ranaut narrated what transpired at the Chandigarh airport.

“I am getting a lot of phone calls, from the media as well as my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine. The incident that happened today at Chandigarh airport was during the security check. As soon as I came out after the security check, the lady in the second cabin, a CISF security staff came from the side, hit me on my face and started abusing me. When I asked her why she did so, she said that she supports farmers' protest. I am safe but I am concerned about the terrorism and extremism that is increasing in Punjab,” she said.
