New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon arrives in Delhi

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for his first official visit to India. He was warmly received at the airport by Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, SP Singh Baghel.

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for his first official visit to India. He was warmly received at the airport by Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, SP Singh Baghel.

 

Luxon’s visit comes as he prepares to be the chief guest and keynote speaker at the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, which will take place from 17 to 19 March in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, which will focus on the theme Kalachakra – People, Peace and Planet.

 

Shortly after his arrival, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to meet Luxon to discuss bilateral ties.

 

On Monday, the New Zealand leader will pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat before holding a crucial meeting with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House. 

 

The discussions between the two leaders are expected to cover a range of topics, including trade, technology, and regional security.

 

Following their talks, Luxon will also meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

 

Luxon’s engagements in India extend beyond the capital.

 

On Tuesday, he will meet Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda, reinforcing discussions on healthcare collaboration. 

 

The following day, he will travel to Mumbai, where Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is set to meet him.

 

Additionally, he will call on Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan before concluding his visit and departing from India on 20 March.

 

His visit underscores New Zealand’s commitment to strengthening ties with India across various sectors, including trade, education, and regional cooperation.
