Newly elected members of the Union Territory of Puducherry took oath as MLAs on Wednesday, with Chief Minister N Rangasamy being the first to do so.
The legislators took oath as MLAs in the presence of pro-tem Speaker A Anbalagan in the 30-member House.
Besides Rangasamy, legislators belonging to the AINRC, BJP, AIADMK, DMK, Congress, and Independents took the oath one by one in the languages of their choice — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, or English.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Anbalagan adjourned the proceedings of the House sine die.
The AINRC-led NDA had won the April 9 elections.
The chief minister had successfully contested from the Thattanchavady and Mangalam constituencies, and Rangasamy has resigned from the former.
