A Delhi court on Monday remanded the Red Fort Bomb blast case accused Amir Rashid Ali to the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for 10 days. Ali, a resident of Kashmir, accused of conspiring with Umar Muhammad Nabi, was produced before the Principal District and Sessions Judge.

District Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna of the Patiala House Courts passed the order after Ali was produced before the Court by the agency. The court granted the NIA’s request for his custodial interrogation.

Ali was arrested by the NIA on allegations that he conspired with Dr Umar Un Nabi, the suspect who drove the explosive-filled car to carry out the suicide bombing, killing 10 people on November 10. Ali is the person  in whose name the car used in the attack was registered. He was apprehended in Delhi during an extensive search operation. It is alleged that Ali was the owner of the Hyundai i20 car used in the attack.

According to a statement released by the NIA on November 16, Ali is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore and was arrested in Delhi following a "massive search operation".

"Amir [Rashid Ali] had come to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the car which was eventually used as a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to trigger the blast. NIA has forensically established the identity of the deceased driver of the Vehicle Borne IED as Umar Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama District and Assistant Professor in General Medicine Department in Al Falah University at Faridabad," the anti-terror agency said.

The investigation is ongoing. The NIA is coordinating with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and several central agencies as it continues its probe across multiple states.

According to agencies, nearly eight suspects were allegedly preparing a coordinated series of explosions across four locations, with each pair assigned to a specific target city. Preliminary findings suggest that these groups had planned to move in pairs, each carrying multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for simultaneous attacks. Dr Umar, who lived on the Al-Falah Medical College campus, is believed to be linked to this larger network.
