A nine-year-old girl died after suffering multiple heart attacks while opening her lunch box at school in Rajasthan’s Sikar district, officials said on Wednesday.
The victim, a class 4 pupil at Adarsh Vidya Mandir School, collapsed during the lunch break on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 11 am while all students were having lunch inside their classrooms.
According to school principal Nandkishore, the child fell unconscious while trying to open her tiffin box.
“It happened around 11 am on Tuesday. She dropped her lunch box and collapsed, spilling her food onto the floor. We were all on the school grounds at the time, so we rushed her to the hospital,” the principal said, adding that it is not uncommon for children to faint at school.
The school staff immediately took the unconscious girl to the Dantaramgarh Community Health Centre, where doctors provided initial treatment and referred her to SK Hospital in Sikar for further care.
However, while being moved into the ambulance, she suffered another cardiac arrest and died on the spot, officials said.
