Senior RSS functionary Indresh Kumar called for an end to both "man lynching" and "cow lynching" on Sunday, emphasising the need for peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
Speaking to reporters, Kumar, a national executive member of the RSS, expressed support for the views of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who has advocated for a caste census. "What honourable Mohan ji has said is a view held by all RSS volunteers. Caste is a reality we cannot ignore, but we must guard against the venom of casteism," Kumar said.
He also highlighted the importance of addressing religious fanaticism. "There are and will be many religions, but we must be vigilant against religious extremism and the violence it causes. People should follow their own beliefs while respecting others," Kumar added.
Addressing concerns about lynching incidents, particularly by cow vigilantes, Kumar stated, "In many parts of the country and the world, people consume meat. However, we must acknowledge the sensitivity surrounding cows. We should strive to create an environment free from both cow lynching and man lynching and celebrate unity in diversity."
Kumar, who is also a patron of the "Pancham Dham" programme, announced a new initiative launched by the Bihar chapter of the international cultural organisation.
The programme, which began on Ganesh Chaturthi, aims to promote a society free from riots and caste discrimination, characterised by compassion for the poor.
It will cover 108 shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, culminating in a grand ceremony in Patna from February 12, coinciding with Sant Ravidas’s birth anniversary, to February 26, when Maha Shivratri will be celebrated.
