J&K will finally have an elected Assembly house after six years since the Centre revoked Article 370 and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two union territories in August 2019. Photo - X.


The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Legislative Assembly secretariat has issued a bulletin announcing that the oath-taking ceremony for all the newly elected members of the Assembly is to take place on October 21, 2024, at 2 pm in Srinagar.

 

The Lieutenant Governor under section 24 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act of 2019, has appointed Mubarak Gul,  Member of the Legislative Assembly, as Speaker Protem.

 

He will oversee the oath/affirmation process, where all newly elected members of the J&K Assembly will make and subscribe to the required oath.

 

Members of the Assembly have been urged to attend the assembly and fulfil their obligations in a time-bound manner. They have been asked to bring along photocopies of certificates issued by the returning officer for record-keeping purposes.

 

The bulletin was issued by Manoj Kumar Pandit, Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat, on October 18, 2024.

 

In addition to the assembly members, copies of the bulletin were also forwarded to key officials, including the Financial Commissioners, the Director General of Police, and the Principal Accountant General.

 

J&K will finally have an elected Assembly house after six years since the Centre revoked Article 370 and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two union territories in August 2019.
