As the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative marks its 10th anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday emphasised its role in combating gender biases and fostering an environment where the girl child has access to education and opportunities to fulfil her potential.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was launched by the Prime Minister on January 22, 2015, in Panipat, Haryana.

BBBP addresses the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and focuses on women empowerment throughout various stages of life.

"Today, we celebrate 10 years of the #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao movement. Over this period, it has become a powerful, people-driven initiative that has garnered participation from individuals across all walks of life," Modi stated.

"Beti Bachao Beti Padhao has not only helped challenge gender biases but also created an inclusive environment where the girl child can thrive through education and equal opportunities," the Prime Minister said.

"Through the dedicated efforts of communities and organisations, BBBP has achieved significant milestones. Districts with historically low child sex ratios have shown remarkable improvement, and awareness campaigns have promoted a deeper understanding of gender equality," he added.

Modi extended his appreciation to all stakeholders who have contributed to making the movement vibrant at the grassroots level.

"Let us continue to protect the rights of our daughters, ensure their education, and build a society where they can flourish free from discrimination," he said.

"Together, we can look forward to even greater progress and opportunities for India's daughters in the coming years," the Prime Minister concluded.
