PM Modi launches G-SAFAL and G-MAITRI schemes in Gujarat on International Women's Day.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with 'Lakhpati Didis' in Gujarat’s Navsari district on Saturday, marking International Women’s Day with a special event dedicated to women's empowerment.

 

He was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil during the occasion.

 

'Lakhpati Didis' are members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) who earn an annual household income of at least ₹1,00,000, ensuring financial sustainability across multiple agricultural seasons or business cycles.

 

The initiative aims to facilitate diverse livelihood opportunities through collaboration between government departments, private sector stakeholders, and market players.

 

During the event, PM Modi felicitated five 'Lakhpati Didis' with certificates, recognising their financial independence and entrepreneurial efforts. He also addressed the gathering, emphasising the role of women's economic empowerment in rural development.

Launch of G-SAFAL and G-MAITRI Schemes

The Prime Minister launched two significant initiatives—the G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) and the G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income) Programme.

 

Under G-MAITRI, financial assistance and mentorship will be provided to startups focused on rural livelihood development.

 

Meanwhile, G-SAFAL will offer financial aid and entrepreneurial training to SHG women from Antyodaya families across Gujarat’s two Aspirational districts and thirteen Aspirational Blocks.

PM Modi’s Tribute to Women on International Women's Day

In a special tribute to women, PM Modi honoured ‘Nari Shakti’ and acknowledged their contributions across various fields. Taking to social media, he announced that his official platforms would be taken over by women achievers from diverse backgrounds, highlighting their success stories.

 

"We bow to our Nari Shakti on #WomensDay! Our Government has always worked towards empowering women, which is reflected in our schemes and programmes. Today, as promised, my social media properties will be taken over by women who are making a mark in diverse fields!" PM Modi stated in a post on X.
