Today marks the completion of one year of the deadliest Pahalgam terror attack, carried out last year by Pakistan-funded terrorist organisations, which killed 26 unarmed people in India, majorly tourists. As a retaliatory measure, India launched its ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting and destroying at least nine terror infrastructures built in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

As the country and the families remember their loved ones, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged that the victims will never be forgotten.

"Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten," Modi said in a post on 'X'.

The Prime Minister said his thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss. "As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed," he said.

On the eve of the anniversary, the Indian Army also recalled the operation, underlining its message of deterrence. "When boundaries of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. Justice is served. India stands united," the Army said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah pens a message, saying, "One year on, we remain united against terror and against violence. We remain resolute in our desire to rid Jammu and Kashmir of suffering and innocent deaths. We remain committed to doing everything to ensure it never happens again.”

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, Abdullah said, "We also remain in eternal solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones a year ago in that cowardly attack. May the souls of the victims of the terror attack rest in peace."

Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha also paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and said, "Humble tributes to the innocent souls who lost their lives in the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam on this day in 2025."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered those killed in the terror attack last year, and said India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbour it.

In a message posted on X, the home minister said,"The grief and pain of losing our people still remain in the heart of every Indian. Terrorism is the greatest enemy of humanity, against which we must stand united to fight and defeat. India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbour it.”

As the anniversary is observed, renewed demands for justice, accountability, and stronger global action against terrorism continue to resonate across human rights platforms.
