AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has accused Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav of “demeaning” the entire minority community of Seemanchal by allegedly branding him an “extremist.”

The remarks have triggered a political war of words just days before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Speaking at a rally in Katihar on Monday, Owaisi launched a sharp attack on Yadav, accusing him of behaving like the “younger brother” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and spreading hatred for political gain. He said the people of Seemanchal would give a fitting response to Yadav at the ballot box.

“Tejashwi has demeaned the entire minority community of Seemanchal… Tejashwi is acting like a younger brother to PM Modi and expressing his hatred… Tejashwi can say whatever he wants. Lalu’s son says I am an extremist. His statement makes no difference. The people of Seemanchal will teach him what an extremist is,” Owaisi said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Earlier, on November 2, Owaisi had shared an audio clip on social media purportedly from Tejashwi Yadav’s interview, in which the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader allegedly referred to him as an “extremist.” Condemning the remark, Owaisi said the comment insulted the entire Seemanchal community.

“Tejashwi Yadav called me an extremist after seeing the cap on my head and the beard on my face. This is an insult to the entire Seemanchal community,” Owaisi posted on X.

Continuing his attack, Owaisi mocked Yadav during a rally in Kishanganj on Sunday, challenging him to spell the word “extremist” in English. “An interviewer asked Tejashwi why he did not ally with me.

He said, ‘Owaisi is an extremist, a fanatic, a terrorist.’ I ask Tejashwi, ‘Babu, extremist ko zara angrezi mein likh ke bata do.’ He calls me an extremist because I follow my religion with pride,” Owaisi said in a video later posted on his X account.

The exchange has further intensified the already heated political atmosphere in Bihar as campaigning for the first phase of the Assembly elections ends on Tuesday evening.

Bihar will vote in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with the results scheduled to be announced on November 14.
