Hyderabad MP and AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi has written to the Embassy of India in Moscow, calling for the immediate repatriation of a Hyderabad resident, Ahmed, who is reportedly stranded in Russia and coerced into fighting in the war against Ukraine.
In a video message shared with his wife from the Ukraine border, Ahmed claimed he was misled by an agent named Adil. “I was deceived by an agent named Adil, who made me wait here for 25 days, promising a job. But I was forced into a combat role without knowledge,” he said.
Ahmed, 37, stated that he had sought other employment but was not paid, leaving him with no option but to accept a job that unexpectedly sent him to the battlefield.
He alleged that, of the 25 people in his group, 17 were killed, including one Indian national. He added that those who refused to follow orders were threatened with death and warned that their families would be informed that they had died in a drone or bomb attack.

He said he sustained a fractured leg but was expected to return to the frontline after a day’s rest. “If the agent had given me the promised job, I wouldn’t have been lured into this war,” Ahmed added.
On Thursday, Ahmed’s family, including his wife, met Owaisi at the AIMIM headquarters to seek his assistance. In his letter to the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Owaisi urged officials to take urgent measures to secure Ahmed’s release and safe return to Hyderabad.
The Embassy of India in Moscow confirmed that it had taken up the matter with Russian authorities. Counsellor Tadu Mamu said that Ahmed’s details had been shared with officials and that the Embassy had requested his release from any form of military custody.
The Embassy assured that efforts were underway to ensure his safe return and that his family would be kept informed of further developments. It also stated that all cases of Indian nationals in the Russian Army were being followed up on a priority basis.
