A Pakistani drone carrying nearly half a kg of narcotic substance, after it was seized by the Border Security Force (BSF) near the India-Pakistan border, at Arnia sector of Jammu.

border security forces seized a suspected high-grade narcotic substance-containing drone near the international border here on Sunday, officials said.

They said the quadcopter entered India from across the border and was immediately taken in possession late Saturday evening from the Chinaz Border outpost area in the Arnia Sector.

Confirming the recovery, a BSF spokesperson said a smuggling attempt was foiled by the alert troops with the successful interception of the Pakistani drone along with 495 grams of narcotic substance at 8.10 pm on Saturday.

In an official statement, the BSF spokesperson informed reporters that “the relentless dedication and sharp vigil of BSF Jammu personnel have once again defeated the nefarious design of anti-national elements, showcasing their unwavering commitment to the nation’s security.”

Earlier, IG BSF, during his press conference in Jammu, said that the Jammu border comes under the most sensitive border in the country and “our soldiers and officers do a very difficult duty here.”

He said, “Despite guarding the most difficult terrain in the country, the force has achieved great success.”

Since BSF remains one of the most decorated forces in the country, their work and commitment have forced Pakistani arms and drug smugglers to shift to different tactics, as their smuggling attempts are failing.

According to recent reports, the BSF has shot down and seized approximately 260 drones along the western border with Pakistan till October 31 this year.

With the deployment of two more additional battalions in Jammu, the anti-infiltration bids along the border have almost decreased to zero in recent months.
