The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju, said on Saturday that the Parliament will hold its Winter Session from December 1, 2025, to December 19, 2025.
In a post on X, he wrote: “The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Winter Session of Parliament from December 1, 2025, to December 19, 2025, (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business.”
“Looking forward to a constructive and meaningful Session that strengthens our democracy and serves the aspirations of the people,” the minister added.
The Indian Parliament’s 2025 Monsoon session had ended on August 21, 2025, but witnessed low activity since it began on July 21, 2025, mainly due to disruptions and adjournments caused by the Opposition, which demanded a discussion on Operation Sindoor. The Opposition had also called for a special discussion on the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar.
The Monsoon session ended with 12 bills passed by the Lok Sabha, and 14 by the Rajya Sabha.
The Winter Session of 2024 was marked by a debate on the Constitution’s 75th anniversary in both the Houses, besides a notice of no-confidence against the then Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar, which was moved by the Opposition.
