Following the Supreme Court's decision to cancel their bail, actress Pavitra Gowda and actor Darshan, along with other co-accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, have been arrested. Pavitra Gowda's arrest took place hours after the ruling, while Darshan was apprehended at his residence in Hosakerehalli. He was taken into custody through the back gate of his home.
In the case, Pavitra Gowda is designated as the primary accused (A1), with Darshan listed as the second accused (A2).
A Supreme Court bench comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan set aside the bail order previously issued by the Karnataka High Court. The bench determined that the High Court's order "suffers from serious infirmities" and instructed the authorities to take all the accused back into custody without delay. The court also underscored the necessity for the trial to be conducted expeditiously.

There was no 'legal reason to grant bail,' according to the bench's observations, and Darshan's continued freedom constituted a 'risk of derailing the administration of justice.'
Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan, was allegedly abducted and tortured by the accused, including Darshan and Pavitra. According to police investigations, Renukaswamy allegedly sent Pavitra pornographic messages. According to the police, the victim was held in a shed in Bengaluru for three days in June 2024, during which he was tortured. His body was later discovered in a drain.
The Supreme Court also issued a strong warning to the state government, cautioning against any special treatment being provided to the accused while they are in jail. At the time of the most recent reports, Darshan was believed to be in Mysore, and the Bengaluru police had traveled there to execute his arrest.
