A warrant of arrest has been issued against former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa for committing fraudulency in the Provident Fund (PF) of employees.
Uthappa holds directorship at Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Private Limited and has been charged for not remitting PF contribution as deducted from employees wages into their own accounts.
Officials have said that the company needs to pay Rs 23.36 lakh in compensation. This amount includes penalties under several sections of the Employees’ Provident Funds (EPF) and Miscellaneous Provisions (MP) Act 1952.
This has produced legal approaches from Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Shadakshiri Gopala Reddy to arrest Uthappa as Pulakeshi Nagar Police ordered him.
Going by the records available with the authorities, Uthappa is not currently living at the address stated in his documents.
After going to his home with the intention of delivering a notice the police discovered that he was not around and they therefore arrested him based on an arrest warrant.
Communication issued by the authorities revealed that this company has not remitted Rs 23.36 lakh in damages meticulously. Recovery charges amount to Rs 6,550 as part of this amount.
The statement also pointed out that these dues have not been paid, thus accounting why PF accounts for the company’s workforce have remained unpaid despite so many workers alleging that they cannot access their monies.
