PGTI Players Championship 2025 begins in Kolkata on Feb 11

The PGTI Players Championship 2025 is set to begin at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata from February 11 to 14. This tournament, which marks the opening of the 2025 PGTI season, will offer a total prize purse of ₹1 cr.

PGTI Players Championship 2025 offers ₹1 cr prize.


The PGTI Players Championship 2025 is set to begin at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata from February 11 to 14. This tournament, which marks the opening of the 2025 PGTI season, will offer a total prize purse of ₹1 cr. 

 

The Pro-Am event is scheduled to take place on Feb 15.

 

A total of 124 players, including 121 professionals and three amateurs, will be competing in the tournament. The event features a strong lineup of top Indian professionals, including SSP Chawrasia, Rahil Gangjee, Rashid Khan, Chikkarangappa, Yuvraj Sandhu, Karandeep Kochhar, defending champion Manu Gandas, Om Prakash Chouhan, and Udayan Mane.

 

Several international players will also be participating, adding to the competitive nature of the tournament. Among them are Bangladeshi golfers Jamal Hossain, Badal Hossain, Md Jakiruzzaman Jakir, Md Somrat Sikdar, Md Muaj, Md Razu, Md Solayeman, and Md Sajib Ali.

 

Sri Lanka will be represented by N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran, while Italian golfers Michele Ortolani and Federico Zucchetti will also take part. The event will also feature Stepan Danek from the Czech Republic, Koichiro Sato and Dominic Piccirillo from the United States, and Nepal’s Subash Tamang.

 

Apart from SSP Chawrasia, other Kolkata-based professionals competing in the tournament include Shankar Das, Mohammad Sanju, Divyanshu Bajaj, Indrajit Bhalotia, Feroz Ali Mollah, and Karan Verma.

 

The three amateur golfers from Kolkata in the field are Varish Mohta, Suveer Kapoor, and Anshul Mishra.

 

Harmander Bindra, Golf Captain of Tollygunge Club, expressed pride in hosting the event once again. He highlighted that the club has been the presenting partner for the Players Championship for the past four years, offering a platform for experienced professionals and emerging talents.

 

He emphasised that under the leadership of Kapil Dev, PGTI will continue to play a crucial role in the development of golf in India. He also assured that the playing conditions at the club are at their best this year, ensuring a competitive and exciting tournament.

 

Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, expressed his excitement for the season opener and thanked Tollygunge Club for their continued partnership.

 

He noted that the tournament features an impressive lineup of players and a substantial prize purse, setting the tone for the rest of the season. He also welcomed the Qualifying School graduates who earned their PGTI cards after competing in the recent qualifying tournaments.
