Pieter Elbers, the chief executive officer of IndiGo, stepped down from his position on Tuesday, three months after the country’s largest airline experienced significant operational disruptions.
According to a statement released by the airline, its Managing Director Rahul Bhatia will temporarily take charge of the airline’s operations until a new chief executive is appointed. The company indicated that the announcement of a new leader is expected in the near future.
“Rahul returns to oversee the management of the airline’s affairs with the aim of strengthening the company’s culture, reinforcing operational excellence and further deepening its commitment to delivering exceptional service marked by care, reliability and professionalism to customers,” said Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman of InterGlobe Aviation.
InterGlobe Aviation operates the airline under the brand name IndiGo.
