Alleging bias towards pilot error in AAIB report, Pilots' body APAI has  insisted on what it seeks a 'fair, fact-based inquiry into the AI plane crash. The report said that in the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why he cut off the fuel, to which the other replied that he did not.

Within hours after the report was released, the Airline Pilots' Association of India reacted to the AAIB's report on the June 12 Air India crash and expressed their disappointment over the report. Rejecting the 'tone and direction which suggested a bias towards pilot error', the pi...the pilots' body said, "The tone and direction of the investigation suggest a bias toward pilot error. We categorically reject this presumption and insist on a fair, fact-based inquiry."

The Pilots body demanded a fair and fact-based probe into the Air India plane crash as it claimed that the tone and direction of the investigation into the Air India plane crash suggests a bias towards pilot error. Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said on Friday and emphasised that the ministry is ensuring transparency and accountability in the probe.

"The report was leaked to media without any responsible official signature or attribution. There is lack of transparency in investigation as investigations continue to be shrouded in secrecy, undermining credibility and public trust. Qualified, experienced personnel, especially line pilots, are still not being included in the investigation team.", the body said.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has released its preliminary report into the fatal Boeing 787-8 plane crash on June 12 that killed 260 people. The report has found that the fuel supply to both engines of Air India flight AI171 was cut off within a second of each other, causing confusion in the cockpit and the airplane plummeting back to ground almost immediately after taking off.

The 15-page report says that in the cockpit voice recording, one unidentified pilot asked the other why he had cut off the fuel, which the other denied.

"The tone and direction of the investigation suggest a bias towards pilot error... ALPA India categorically rejects this presumption and insists on a fair, fact-based inquiry," Airline Pilots' Association of India (ALPA) said in a statement.

The association has also demanded that its representatives should be observers in the investigation process to ensure transparency and accountability.

ALPA India  is a member associate of the International Federation of Airline Pilots' Association (IFALPA).
