Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a recent event in Mumbai, claimed that the country has seen the creation of eight crore new jobs in the past three to four years.
Citing a report by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Modi suggested that these employment figures debunk the “fake narratives” spread by opposition parties.
“Recently, the RBI has released a report regarding jobs. According to the report, in the last 3-4 years, around 8 crore new jobs have been created in the country. These figures have silenced those who spread false narratives. These individuals oppose investment, infrastructure, and the country's development and are now being exposed. The citizens of the country are rejecting their conspiracies,” the Prime Minister stated.
Modi's remarks came during the inauguration of several development projects in Mumbai, worth over ₹29,400 crore.
The event saw the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
During his speech, Modi did not miss the chance to criticise the opposition, specifically recalling allegations from the Congress regarding the Atal Setu bridge.
The Prime Minister mentioned the importance of improving connectivity in Mumbai, mentioning the completion of both the coastal road and Atal Setu.
“Our motive is to make the quality of life best in Mumbai; therefore, connectivity around Mumbai is being improved. In Mumbai, the coastal road and Atal Setu have been completed, and you may remember that misinformation was spread about the Atal Setu. Every effort was made to stall it, but everyone is benefitting from it,” he remarked.
Highlighting the utility of the Atal Setu, Modi said, “I have been told around 20,000 vehicles are using it every day. Besides, it's saving around ₹20,000-25,000 lakh worth of fuel per day.”
The Prime Minister also shared his ambitious vision for Mumbai, expressing a desire to transform the city into a global fintech capital.
He acknowledged Maharashtra's significant role in India's progress, attributing it to the state's industrial, agricultural, and financial strength.
“Maharashtra is a state that will play a crucial role in making India 'viksit' (self-reliant). Maharashtra has the power of industry, agriculture, and finance sector, and this has helped Mumbai become the financial hub (of India).
Now, my aim is to make Maharashtra the world’s big financial powerhouse,” Modi stated.
Reflecting on his previous commitments, Modi said, “People know that it is the NDA government that can give stability and durability. After taking oath for the third time, I had said that the NDA government will work at thrice the speed,” referring to his address to the Indian diaspora in Moscow during his recent visit to Russia.
