PM heads NE, Bihar tomorrow; ₹71,850-cr development push lined up

PM Modi will tour Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar from Sept 13-15, launching projects worth ₹71,850 crore across infrastructure, energy, transport and agriculture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-day tour of five states beginning Saturday, rolling out infrastructure, energy, transport and social sector projects valued at more than ₹71,850 crore.

 

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit will take him to Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar between September 13 and 15, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of major development schemes.

 

At Aizawl in Mizoram, Modi will dedicate and launch projects worth over ₹9,000 crore, spanning railways, roadways, energy and sports. He will also flag off three new express trains, Sairang-Delhi Rajdhani Express, Sairang-Guwahati Express and Sairang-Kolkata Express. “Aizawl will now be directly connected with Delhi through a Rajdhani Express. The Sairang-Guwahati Express will facilitate movement between Mizoram and Assam. Sairang-Kolkata Express will directly connect Mizoram to Kolkata,” the statement read.

 

Road connectivity in the hill state will receive a significant push with the laying of foundation stones for the Aizawl Bypass Road, Thenzawl-Sialsuk Road and Khankawn-Rongura Road. Modi will also launch the Chhimtuipui River Bridge on the Lawngtlai-Siaha Road, which is expected to reduce travel time by two hours, alongside a Khelo India multipurpose indoor hall and an LPG bottling plant at Mualkhang.

In Manipur, he will inaugurate schemes worth over ₹7,300 crore. These include the Manipur Urban Roads, drainage and asset management project of over ₹3,600 crore, five National Highway projects exceeding ₹2,500 crore, the Manipur Infotech Development project, and nine working women’s hostels. Public events are scheduled at Churachandpur and Imphal.

 

Later on Saturday, the Prime Minister will travel to Guwahati to take part in the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika.

 

On September 14, Modi will return to Assam to unveil infrastructure and industrial ventures worth more than ₹18,530 crore. He will lay the foundation stone of Darrang Medical College and Hospital, nursing colleges, and road projects at Darrang, followed by the inauguration of the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery and the foundation stone of a polypropylene plant at the refinery complex.

 

On September 15, Modi will address the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata, underscoring his commitment to defence and national security. Later that day, he will fly to Bihar, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea airport and unveil schemes worth around ₹36,000 crore.

 

In Purnea, the Prime Minister will also launch the National Makhana Board, aimed at boosting production, research and processing of makhana, while opening new markets and export opportunities for farmers in Bihar and beyond.
