Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are scheduled to attend the all-India DGP-IGP Conference in Chhattisgarh this November.
The conference will focus on internal security, Naxal and militant insurgencies, along with narcotics, cyber security, and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to details, the 60th edition of the three-day conference, starting November 28, will be inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah, an official said. He said about 250 officers in the ranks of DGP and IGP would attend the event physically, while more than 200 others would participate virtually.
The official further said special focus would be on Naxal-affected regions. Deliberations will also focus on building new strategies, with key issues, including internal security, cyber security, the fight against narcotics, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, and border management.
The Home Minister has already set a deadline of March 31, 2026, to eliminate Naxalism in the country.
Meanwhile, since 2014, PM Modi has taken a keen interest in the DGP conference. Free-flowing thematic discussions over breakfast, lunch, and dinner have also been planned for the conference.
The event is expected to provide an opportunity for top police officials to share their views along with recommendations on the future of policing and internal security in the country.
Till 2013, the annual meet was held in New Delhi. However, after the Modi-led government came to power, it was decided to hold the event, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Intelligence Bureau, outside the national capital.
