PM Modi Wishes Nation On Bhai Dooj Festival of Love.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah extended their warm wishes to the nation on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, a festival that celebrates the special bond between brothers and sisters.

Observed two days after Diwali, Bhai Dooj is a time when sisters pray for the long life and prosperity of their brothers, while brothers commit to protecting their sisters.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi took to the social media platform X to convey his heartfelt greetings. He expressed his hopes that this auspicious occasion would deepen the affection and love shared between siblings. His message emphasises the importance of the bond of trust, love, and protection that exists between brothers and sisters.

Home Minister Shah also shared his thoughts on the significance of Bhai Dooj. He described the festival as one filled with love, dedication, and devotion. In his post, he offered his best wishes to everyone, hoping that the festivities bring immense happiness into their lives.

Bhai Dooj, also known by various names such as Bhau Beej, Bhai Tika, or Bhai Phonta in different regions of India, is an important event in the Hindu calendar.

It serves as a reminder of the affection that siblings share. Sisters perform rituals for their brothers’ safety and well-being, reinforcing their loving relationship.

The origins of Bhai Dooj are rich in mythology, with several ancient tales associated with its celebration. One of the most notable stories involves Yamraj, the god of death, and his sister, Yamuna.

According to the legend, Yamuna invited Yamraj to her home, treating him with warmth and offering him a feast. Touched by her hospitality and love, Yamraj granted her a blessing.

He proclaimed that any brother who visits his sister on this special day and receives a ceremonial tilak on his forehead would be safeguarded from untimely death.

This tradition has been upheld through the generations, as sisters continue to pray for the safety and happiness of their brothers. Bhai Dooj serves as a meaningful conclusion to the joyous celebrations of Diwali, reinforcing family bonds and the importance of sibling relationships.

As the nation celebrates this heartfelt occasion, the messages from Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah resonate with the values of love, commitment, and family ties.

The festivities remind everyone of the significance of maintaining strong relationships, honouring the unique connection shared between siblings, and cherishing moments of togetherness.
