PM Modi praises The Sabarmati Report during Parliament event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the screening of The Sabarmati Report at the Balyogi Auditorium in Parliament today.

The film, which centres around the tragic burning of the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002, has sparked considerable attention due to its depiction of the events surrounding the 2002 Godhra incident.

Accompanied by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, PM Modi made his way to the auditorium.

The screening also saw the presence of several other prominent figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who arrived earlier to attend the event.

The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, is a film that brings to light the harrowing events of the Godhra incident. Its release has been met with a positive response from both the public and political leaders.

The film has even been declared tax-free in various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. This recognition further highlights the movie’s impact, especially in shedding light on a chapter of history that remains controversial.

The film has also garnered support from various political leaders, including BJP MP and actress Hema Malini, who praised its efforts to address the truth behind the tragedy. Ektaa Kapoor, one of the film’s producers, shared insights into the process behind creating the film.

She explained that a year of intensive research and fact-checking was conducted before moving forward with the production. This careful approach to the film’s creation is something Kapoor takes immense pride in, knowing it portrays the true events of that tragic day.

Prime Minister Modi himself praised the film’s portrayal of the incident, commenting on a post about the trailer on social media platform X.

He expressed his approval of how the film is revealing the truth, stating, "Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!"

His support for the film highlights its importance in confronting a sensitive issue and offering a perspective that many feel has been missing for years.

The film’s screening has also received praise from Chief Ministers across various states. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, and Haryana CM Nayab Saini have all expressed admiration for the film, highlighting its significance in paying tribute to the 59 victims who lost their lives in the tragic incident. Their support has added to the film’s growing popularity, with several states opting to make it tax-free as a mark of respect.

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report features a strong cast, with Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna in pivotal roles.

The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production.

Its release and subsequent screenings are part of a wider effort to address the events of 2002 and the impact they had on the people and politics of India.
