Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Gujarat on Monday morning and was accorded a grand welcome in Vadodara, where he led a one-kilometre roadshow from the airport to the Air Force station on the city outskirts.
Among the enthusiastic crowds were family members of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who gained prominence for her regular press briefings on ‘Operation Sindoor’. Colonel Qureshi hails from Vadodara; her parents, brother Mohammad Sanjay Qureshi, and sister Shyna Sunsara were present at the event.
Thousands gathered along the roadshow route to congratulate the prime minister on the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan. Supporters waved the tricolour and raised slogans praising the Indian Army and Mr Modi. The prime minister also greeted the crowds by leaning out of his car. Women dressed in red sarees — symbolising the colour of sindoor — showered flower petals on him during the procession.
During the two-day visit, Mr Modi will participate in public events in Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar and inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of development projects valued at over ₹82,950 crore, according to an official release.
