Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited an exhibition at Bharat Tex 2025, engaging with participants and receiving a briefing on the event’s various aspects.
Bharat Tex 2025, considered the textile industry’s largest and most comprehensive event, is a mega exhibition spanning two venues.
The event showcases the entire textile ecosystem, from raw materials to finished products, including accessories, under one roof. Organised at Bharat Mandapam from 14 to 17 February, the exhibition has drawn international buyers, policymakers, and leading global CEOs.
According to officials, over 25 major textile associations and bodies from across the world are participating, including the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), EURATEX, Textile Exchange, and the US Fashion Industry Association (USFIA). Representatives from more than 120 countries are also attending.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the gathering later in the day, where he is expected to discuss India’s textile industry and its role in the global market.
Earlier in the day, the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, under the Ministry of Textiles, hosted a fashion event titled “Breathing Threads.”
The showcase, held at the amphitheatre in Bharat Mandapam, highlighted the enduring elegance of Indian handlooms through contemporary designs.
The fashion show was organised in association with Vaishali S Couture and Vaishali S Threadstories Private Limited, Mumbai, along with the Handloom Export Promotion Council.
The event featured fabrics woven in rural villages from five states – West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.
Twenty models presented 30 looks, incorporating seven distinct weaving techniques, including Chanderi, Maheshwari, Jamdani, Khun, Benarasi, Kota Doria, and Murshidabad.
Each weave was creatively enhanced with intricate textures and cording, offering a fusion of tradition and modernity.
