Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded Union Home Minister Amit Shah's powerful address in Parliament, emphasising that both Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev were instrumental in eliminating terrorists from Indian soil. His remarks came a day after three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, including the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, were killed in Operation Mahadev in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his speech in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that all three terrorists responsible for the brutal Pahalgam attack — in which 26 innocent tourists were killed — were neutralised by security forces. He stated that planning for the operation began just hours after the attack. Shah said he had directed the security agencies to ensure that the terrorists did not escape across the border under any circumstances.
Commending Shah's speech, Prime Minister Modi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he wrote, "In this remarkable speech in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah Ji gives important details about Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, which have played a vital role in eliminating cowardly terrorists. His address also focuses on our Government's efforts towards keeping our nation secure."
Further detailing the operation, Amit Shah said the three terrorists — top Lashkar commander Suleiman Shah, and his associates Afghan and Jibran — were positively identified as the perpetrators of the Pahalgam massacre. Their identification was made possible by individuals who had sheltered them following the April 22 killings.
“These terrorists killed innocent civilians in front of their families in the Baisaran Valley, targeting people based on their religion,” Shah told the House. “In a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, all three terrorists were successfully eliminated.”

He also revealed that two locals, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad, had been arrested last month by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly providing shelter to the terrorists. Shah noted that others who had supplied food and logistical support to the terrorists were also detained during the investigation.
Once the bodies of the slain terrorists were brought to Srinagar, those already in custody helped identify them, Shah said. Asserting that the Centre had irrefutable evidence of their Pakistani origins, he pointed out that two of the terrorists possessed Pakistani voter identity numbers. Additionally, chocolates recovered from their belongings were confirmed to be manufactured in Pakistan.
The Home Minister's address was seen as a strong reaffirmation of the government's resolve to fight cross-border terrorism, and his disclosure of specific evidence underlined the operational success of Indian security agencies.
