Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the power of "Women-Led Development" in the 123rd episode of his monthly "Mann Ki Baat" address on Sunday. He highlighted the remarkable tales of Indian women who are using self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and innovation to change their communities and their lives.
He acknowledged the noteworthy accomplishments of women who are influencing the idea of a New India via tenacity and teamwork. The Prime Minister started off by describing the experiences of women from Bhadrachalam, Telangana, who were formerly employed as daily wage workers in agricultural fields. These women are now prosperous businesswomen who manufacture sanitary pads and other goods made from millet.
"Bhadradri Millet Magic" biscuits, which are made by women in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, using millets called "Shree Anna," are being sold in Hyderabad and even London, according to PM Modi. According to him, these women have also begun producing "Giri Sanitary Pads," which have been given away at a reduced cost to surrounding workplaces and schools. In just three months, they produced an astounding 40,000 pads.
He emphasised that the women's training and membership in a Self-Help Group (SHG) enabled them to create sustainable livelihoods, which in turn enabled this transformation. India is building a new future under the motto of "Women-Led Development." In addition to changing their own lives, our mothers, sisters, and daughters are changing the course of society, the prime minister declared.
PM Modi also highlighted another noteworthy instance from Kalaburagi, Karnataka, where women have developed a distinctive identity by transforming a traditional food item into a profitable enterprise. Jowar rotis have become the focus of a brand developed by Kalaburagi women. They are making more than 3,000 rotis every day through their cooperative. These are no longer limited to rural areas—customers are being served at their special counter in Bengaluru, and online food platforms are receiving orders," he said.

According to the prime minister, this program has greatly increased the earnings of the participating women and established a sustainable economic model that links rural customs with urban needs. Speaking further on the subject of independence, PM Modi told the motivational tale of Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district's Suma Uike. Suma joined a Self-Help Group in the Katangi block and started making a consistent living after completing training in animal husbandry and mushroom farming.
Modi highlighted how minor beginnings can lead to larger community change by saying, "Her journey started with a small step, but it led to the launch of 'Didi Canteen' and even a 'Thermal Therapy Centre.'" "Even though these stories come from different parts of the country and have different faces, they all have the same glow—confidence, independence, and change," he said.
The Prime Minister acknowledged in her closing remarks that tales of women's entrepreneurship and empowerment are being told from all over India. He emphasised that these real-world examples are not only improving the lives of individuals but are also making a substantial contribution to the advancement of India as a whole. He declared, "These innumerable women are not only altering their own destiny, but they are altering the destiny of the entire country."
