Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday emphasised that before 2014, blackouts were frequent under the Congress government, but since then, India's power production has doubled, and the country is now exporting electricity.
While addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for an 800-MW ultra-supercritical thermal power unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant, he highlighted the significant strides in the energy sector, noting that Haryana is experiencing “double speed” under the BJP’s “double-engine government.”
This thermal unit, set to be operational by 2029, will help boost Haryana’s energy self-sufficiency, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply across the state. Spanning 233 acres and costing around Rs 8,470 crore, it will be Haryana’s first ultra-supercritical technology-based power project, built next to the existing 2x300 MW units in Yamunanagar.
Additionally, Modi laid the foundation stone for a compressed biogas plant in Mukarabpur, which will have an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes. The plant, slated for completion by 2027, will aid in organic waste management and contribute to clean energy production.
Furthermore, Modi inaugurated the 14.4-km Rewari Bypass project, worth Rs 1,070 crore, set to ease traffic congestion in Rewari city, reduce travel time from Delhi to Narnaul, and stimulate regional economic activity.
Modi also highlighted the government's recent development initiatives, including launching several projects worth Rs 10,000 crore on the birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
In his speech, the Prime Minister drew comparisons between the previous Congress government’s failure to ensure consistent electricity supply and the achievements of the current government in boosting power production, which now includes exports to neighboring countries. Referring to his government’s efforts in modernising energy production, Modi mentioned the “Gobardhan” scheme for biogas, which benefits farmers. He also highlighted the government's dedication to increasing electricity generation to meet growing demand and ensure national development.
Attacking the Congress for neglecting public welfare, Modi claimed that Congress-ruled states like Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka were failing their citizens. He said Congress's failures were evident in rising taxes and inflation in Karnataka and in the neglect of promises in Telangana.

Modi emphasised that the BJP's vision is rooted in the ideals of Ambedkar, and its focus is on serving the people, rather than enjoying power.
He reiterated his commitment to building a 'Viksit Bharat' and a prosperous Haryana, pointing out that development, industries, and infrastructure were critical in advancing social justice and supporting small landholders, in line with Ambedkar’s principles.
He concluded by praising Haryana's ongoing industrial growth, the work of the state government in purchasing crops at minimum support prices, and initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which has seen 1.25 crore registrations.
Modi also touched upon increasing financial support for small industries through schemes like Mudra Yojna and credit guarantee programs, aiming to help them grow and achieve the dreams of young entrepreneurs.
