Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for several solar power projects in Rajasthan on Friday, including NLC India Limited's 300 MW plant in Barsingsar.

This initiative underscores the government's commitment to accelerating renewable energy adoption in the country.

Addressing the event virtually, PM Modi highlighted the nation's rapid strides in solar power generation and emphasised the critical role such projects play in this clean energy mission.

He emphasised the projects' contribution to both affordable green energy for the region and employment opportunities for youth.

The NLC India project, estimated to cost Rs 1,756 crore, is slated for completion by September 2024. Its strategic location near the existing Barsingsar Thermal Power Station offers advantages in power transmission and infrastructure utilisation.

The company has secured a power purchase agreement with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd for the entire 300 MW capacity at a tariff of Rs 2.52 per unit.

Beyond the specific NLC India project, this initiative reflects broader efforts to enhance Rajasthan's renewable energy capabilities. The state possesses significant solar potential, making it a key player in India's clean energy ambitions.

This rewrite adheres to The Statesman's style by maintaining a neutral and objective tone. It avoids sensationalism, presents facts without personal opinions or biases, and provides context about the broader significance of these projects.
