Chess prodigy Gukesh D had a remarkable meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the young champion received heartfelt appreciation for his extraordinary dedication and achievements.

PM Modi lauded Gukesh’s confidence and determination, highlighting how his journey in chess has inspired millions across the country.


The Prime Minister, known for his encouragement of young talent, described his conversation with Gukesh as insightful and inspiring.

During their discussion, Modi emphasised the transformative power of yoga and meditation, noting how these practices contribute to focus and mental well-being, qualities crucial in the competitive world of sports.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, PM Modi reflected on his admiration for Gukesh’s remarkable journey. 

He wrote about Gukesh’s unwavering commitment to his goal of becoming the youngest world champion in chess, a vision the young star had boldly declared years ago and achieved through sheer determination and hard work.

PM Modi praised Gukesh not just for his success but also for the humility and composure he displayed even in moments of triumph.


The Prime Minister also acknowledged the significant role parents play in shaping an athlete’s success.

 

 
He expressed deep appreciation for Gukesh’s parents, recognising their sacrifices and constant support, which he believed would inspire many families with aspiring young athletes to pursue their dreams with dedication.


As a token of gratitude, Gukesh presented PM Modi with the original chessboard used in the game where he secured his historic victory.

The chessboard, autographed by both Gukesh and world champion Ding Liren, was described by PM Modi as a cherished memento of this special interaction.

The All India Chess Federation also expressed its gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support and encouragement.

 


In a post on X, the Federation’s President thanked PM Modi for meeting Gukesh and his parents, highlighting how the Prime Minister’s acknowledgment of their sacrifices and efforts was deeply inspiring.

The post also appreciated Shri Modi’s visionary leadership, which has been instrumental in promoting sports and nurturing talent, positioning India as a rising global force in the sports arena.
