Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov on Monday to reaffirm India's commitment to its "Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership" with Russia.

 

The meeting highlighted the steady progress of India-Russia ties and the desire to strengthen cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, energy, economics, and connectivity. Both leaders expressed optimism about their partnership’s potential to address global and regional challenges, benefiting both countries.

 

PM Modi, sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), emphasised the value of the joint efforts between India and Russia to implement decisions from his recent meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

Modi conveyed satisfaction with the steps taken so far to advance collaboration between the two nations, adding that the discussions with Manturov underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue and active cooperation.

 

The Prime Minister's Office issued a statement, emphasising PM Modi’s appreciation for the sustained efforts to fulfil the commitments made during his meetings with President Putin. Modi extended warm greetings to the Russian president, underscoring the continued exchanges and close ties between the two leaders.

 

The visit by Manturov includes participation in the 25th session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission, scheduled for Tuesday, where he will join External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

 

This session aims to review progress in key bilateral initiatives and discuss fresh opportunities in trade, economics, science, technology, and cultural cooperation. Manturov's meetings with Indian officials reflect both countries' eagerness to identify and work on new areas of collaboration, enhancing the multifaceted partnership.
