As the grand Maha Kumbh Mela concluded on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned a blog expressing gratitude to the people for their participation in the 45-day-long religious congregation and sought forgiveness for any shortcomings in serving the devotees.

Sharing his thoughts on X, the Prime Minister posted captivating images of the event and described the Maha Kumbh as a "Maha Yagya of unity" that brought together the faith of 140 crore Indians.

"The Maha Kumbh has concluded... the Maha Yagya of unity has been completed. The way the faith of 140 crore countrymen came together for 45 days at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj, at one time, and joined this one festival, is overwhelming! I have tried to pen down the thoughts that came to my mind after the completion of the Maha Kumbh..." he wrote.

Acknowledging the scale of the event, Modi remarked that organising such a massive gathering was no easy feat and sought divine blessings for any inadvertent lapses.

"I know that organising such a grand event was not easy. I pray to Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, Mother Saraswati, O Mother, if there was any shortcoming in our worship, please forgive us. If there was any lapse in serving the devotees, whom I consider the embodiment of God, I also seek forgiveness from the people," he wrote.

The Prime Minister further stated that the Maha Kumbh has now garnered global attention as a subject of research for management professionals, as well as planning and policy experts.

He noted that beyond setting records for participation, the event has cemented its place in history, laying a strong foundation for future generations and enriching India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

“The massive participation of devotees in the Maha Kumbh is not just a record but it has also laid a strong foundation for centuries to come, reinforcing and enriching our culture and heritage,” he said.

Reflecting on the spiritual and cultural unity witnessed at the event, Modi highlighted that people from all sections of society came together in a profound display of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

“People from all sections of society and every field came together in this Maha Kumbh. This unforgettable sight of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ became a grand festival of self-confidence for millions of Indians,” he remarked.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, held once every 12 years, is believed to grant ‘moksha’ to the devotees who take the sacred dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

The six-week-long religious congregation witnessed six special bathing dates, culminating with the final holy dip on Mahashivratri, marking the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
