Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, held a significant delegation-level meeting in Warsaw on Thursday. The meeting, which followed a ceremonial welcome, marked a new chapter in the India-Poland partnership. This visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland, the first in 45 years, is expected to invigorate relations between New Delhi and Warsaw.

Upon arrival, PM Modi was greeted with a grand ceremonial reception at the Chancellery in Warsaw, in the presence of Prime Minister Tusk. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the importance of this visit, emphasising that it would bring fresh momentum to the bilateral ties between the two nations.

PM Modi’s visit to Poland underscores the strengthening relationship between India and Poland in various sectors, including new technology and clean energy. The leaders discussed several key issues during their meeting, reflecting the growing collaboration between the two countries.

One of the notable announcements made by PM Modi during his address to the Indian community in Warsaw was the agreement on a social security pact between India and Poland. This agreement is expected to benefit many Indians living and working in Poland.

In his remarks, PM Modi also highlighted the role of innovation and youth in driving the development of both nations. He mentioned that Poland will be hosting the Kabaddi championship for the first time this year, which has become a cultural bridge between the two countries.

The timing of this visit is significant as India and Poland are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. This milestone reflects the deep-rooted and evolving partnership that the two countries share.

Following his engagements in Poland, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This will be a historic visit, as it will mark the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine, further expanding India’s diplomatic outreach in the region.
