Farmers receive 19th instalment of PM Kisan scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Bhagalpur, Bihar, on Monday. The event marked another significant step in the government's ongoing efforts to support farmers across the country.

With Bihar set to go to the polls later this year, the release of funds under PM-KISAN holds political and economic significance. The scheme continues to provide financial assistance to millions of farmers, ensuring they receive much-needed support for their agricultural activities.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived in Bihar a day earlier to oversee preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit. During his visit, he interacted with farmers engaged in foxnut cultivation, discussing plans for the proposed "Makhana board" that was announced in the recent budget.

Chouhan highlighted the scale of the event, stating that nearly 9.80 crore farmers across India would receive a total of Rs 22,700 crore as part of the latest instalment of PM-KISAN. He emphasised that the initiative would have a widespread impact, benefiting farmers nationwide.

Security arrangements were significantly heightened ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. Bhagalpur District Magistrate Nawal Kishor Choudhary, along with SSP Hriday Kant and other senior officials, inspected the main venue, parking facilities, and overall security measures to ensure a smooth event.

Several Union ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and officials from both state and Central ministries were present at the function.

The large-scale participation underscored the importance of the scheme in providing direct financial support to farmers and strengthening agricultural development.

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, has played a crucial role in aiding farmers through direct income transfers.

Under this initiative, eligible farmers receive financial assistance in three equal instalments annually, helping them meet farming-related expenses. With the latest disbursement, the scheme continues to reinforce the government's commitment to improving farmers' livelihoods.
