Prime Minister Narendra Modi today strongly criticised the Congress, saying that those who have been "repeatedly rejected by the people" are showing disrespect for Parliament and democracy.
Speaking to the media before the start of the winter session of Parliament, he expressed hope for "healthy discussions."
He added, "Some people who have been rejected by the people are trying to control Parliament through disruptive behavior by a small group of people. The people of the country watch their actions and punish them when the time comes."
This statement came just two days after the opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi faced a heavy defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
The winter session of Parliament is expected to run until December 20.
"The key parts of our Constitution are Parliament and our MPs. Parliament should have healthy discussions, and more people should participate in them," he said.
"Unfortunately, some people are trying to disrupt Parliament for their own political gain by creating chaos with a small group of people."
The Prime Minister also mentioned that this winter session is "special" because it marks the beginning of the 75th year since the adoption of the Constitution.
There is speculation that the government may introduce the 'One Nation, One Election' bill during this session. Prime Minister Modi recently highlighted that the government is working on the plan.
Other important bills expected to be discussed include the Waqf Amendment Bill and the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill.
The government may also introduce the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill and the Railway Act amendment bill in the Lok Sabha.
