Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake a 45-hour meditation retreat at the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, starting May 30.

The event, scheduled just after the culmination of the Lok Sabha poll campaign, marks a significant moment as Modi seeks spiritual solace and inspiration from the revered site dedicated to Swami Vivekananda.

The southernmost tip of India will witness an unprecedented security arrangement, with 2,000 police personnel and multiple security agencies ensuring a tight vigil throughout the Prime Minister's stay.

This visit comes five years after Modi's similar meditation exercise in a Kedarnath cave post the 2019 election campaign.

Modi's meditation will take place at the Dhyan Mandapam, the very spot where Swami Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision about 'Bharat Mata.'

The Prime Minister's affinity for Vivekananda, a spiritual icon, underscores the significance of this location.

BJP leaders highlighted Modi's admiration for Vivekananda's vision of a developed India and his commitment to realising it.

Security has been meticulously planned for Modi's visit.

Tirunelveli range DIG Pravesh Kumar, along with Superintendent of Police E Sundaravathanam, has inspected the security arrangements at the rock memorial, the boat jetty, the helipad, and the state guest house.

The Prime Minister's core security team has already reached the venue, and a trial helicopter landing has been conducted at the helipad.

The locale is celebrated for its unique tri-sea confluence of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea. The area also features the Sri Bhagavathy Amman temple, the Tiruvalluvar statue, and pristine beaches, adding to its charm.

The official website of the Kanyakumari district administration describes the rock as the site where Goddess Kanniyakumari performed Tapas (meditation), according to legend.

PM Modi's tentative schedule indicates his arrival in Kanyakumari on the late afternoon of May 30.

He will proceed directly to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and is expected to stay there until 3 pm on June 1, coinciding with the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Given the Prime Minister's extended stay, security measures have been intensified.

The Coastal Security Group, Indian Coast Guard, and Indian Navy will maintain a vigilant watch along the marine borders to ensure safety.

A source revealed that these extensive precautions reflect the significance of Modi's visit.

BJP functionaries have emphasized that Modi's decision to meditate at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial demonstrates his dedication to Swami Vivekananda's vision for India.

"Meditating at the same place shows Prime Minister Modi's commitment to bringing Swami ji's vision of a Viksit Bharat to life," a BJP leader stated.

The leader also noted that the site is revered in holy texts as the place where Goddess Parvati meditated for Lord Shiva.
