Participants at the ‘India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025’ on Wednesday expressed excitement and optimism ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at the ‘Maritime Leaders Conclave’, highlighting the rapid growth and global recognition of India’s maritime sector.

Chaitanya, a participant from Singapore, praised the organisation and international participation at the event.

“The event is very well-organised and has gained a lot of traction from across the world. I am from Singapore, and I am surprised to see the arrangements at such a large scale,” Chaitanya said.

He added that PM Modi’s address would be highly motivating for the youth and would inspire more participation and innovation in the maritime field.

Captain Inderveer Solanki, another participant, expressed gratitude for PM Modi’s involvement in the event, noting the sector’s exceptional progress in recent years.

“We are very fortunate to have the Honourable Prime Minister coming to the event. For the first time, I would say that the maritime industry, including inland water transport, will be placed on the global map by PM Modi. There has been exponential growth not only in the maritime industry but also in shipbuilding,” Solanki said.

Captain Sudarshan also described the event as a significant milestone for the maritime community, saying that PM Modi’s participation would make it even more special.

“The Indian Maritime Week is going to be really important as PM Modi is going to address the gathering. His presence will put an exciting ‘tadka’ in this event and make it truly special,” Sudarshan said.

PM Modi is also set to chair the ‘Global Maritime CEO Forum’, where he will outline the government’s vision and reforms for the maritime sector.

The forum, part of IMW 2025’s flagship events, has brought together CEOs of multinational maritime companies, key investors, policymakers, innovators, and international partners to discuss the future of the global maritime ecosystem.

The discussions at the forum are expected to focus on green shipping, resilient supply chains, inclusive blue economy strategies, and sustainable maritime growth, aligning with India’s broader vision of a modern and eco-friendly maritime industry.

In a post shared earlier on X, PM Modi said, “Looking forward to being in Mumbai tomorrow, 29th October, to attend programmes relating to the ongoing India Maritime Week 2025. I will speak at the Maritime Leaders Conclave and also chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum. This is a great forum to build collaborations in the maritime sector and highlight India’s reforms in the same.”
