Born on July 15, 1962, in Ahmedabad, Bhupendra Patel is a civil engineer by training, holding a diploma from the Government Polytechnic in Ahmedabad. He took office as Gujarat's 18th Chief Minister on December 12, 2022.
Patel’s political journey began as a member of the Memnagar municipality. He later won a seat as an MLA from the Ghatlodia constituency during the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections.
Patel has a rich background in administration, having served in various capacities. He was the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and represented the Thaltej ward as a corporator from 2010 to 2015.
His political career took off in 1995 when he became Chairman of the Standing Committee of Memnagar Municipality, where he served for over a decade, holding the chairmanship during multiple terms.
In 2015, he was appointed Chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority. His experience and dedication to public service were recognized when he won his first assembly election in 2017 from Ghatlodia, marking a significant milestone in his political career.
