Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticised AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over his claim that Haryana had poisoned Yamuna water to disrupt Delhi’s water supply.
Speaking at a rally in Delhi’s Kartar Nagar, Modi called the remarks an insult to the nation and accused AAP of spreading fear due to its fear of losing the upcoming Assembly elections.
Modi dismissed Kejriwal’s allegations, saying that the water from Yamuna is consumed by everyone in Delhi, including judges, diplomats, and even himself. He questioned whether Haryana residents would poison their own relatives in Delhi, calling the claim absurd.
The Prime Minister also renewed his "AAP-da" (disaster) charge against the AAP and said the party was nervous about its electoral future.
He compared AAP leaders to notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj, accusing them of deceiving people with false promises. Modi said that just like Sobhraj, AAP leaders have tricked Delhi’s people for years, but this time, voters will not fall for their tactics. He predicted that the AAP’s downfall was near, saying their "ship will sink in Yamuna."
The Election Commission has already sought proof from Kejriwal regarding his claims about Haryana allegedly poisoning the Yamuna. The poll body has asked him to submit a response by the evening.
Modi said the people of Delhi have made up their minds and will vote for change. He claimed that the BJP, if elected, would bring a "double-engine government" that would modernise Delhi, provide housing for the poor, and ensure clean drinking water.
He said Delhi’s people were tired of AAP’s "excuses and fake promises" and wanted real development.
The Prime Minister also alleged that AAP and Congress had secretly joined hands to manipulate the elections. He warned that if the two parties formed an alliance, Delhi would suffer from a "double AAP-da," making governance worse.
He reminded voters that Congress had ruled for 15 years, and AAP had been in power for 11 years, yet Delhi’s problems remained unresolved. Traffic jams, water shortages, and pollution continue to affect daily life.
Modi urged people to vote for the BJP, promising a better future. He said Delhi needs a party that can complete unfinished projects and plan for the next 25 years.
The Delhi Assembly election is set for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8.
