Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended a warm and personal welcome to US Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha Vance, and their children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.
Upon their arrival, PM Modi embraced Vice President Vance and engaged in a friendly conversation with Usha Vance. A video shared from the visit captures the Prime Minister playfully interacting with the children, especially with Ewan and Vivek, who are seen sitting on PM Modi’s lap and speaking with him as he gave the family a tour of his residence.
During the visit, the Prime Minister presented a symbolic and thoughtful gift—a peacock feather—to each of the three children. The interaction was followed by formal bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and Vice President Vance, who is also serving as US President Donald Trump’s deputy.
Earlier in the day, the Vance family visited the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi, where they were accompanied by their children dressed in traditional Indian attire.
Ewan and Vivek wore white kurta-pyjamas, while Mirabel wore a beautifully embroidered Anarkali-style outfit. The visit to the temple was deeply appreciated by the family. JD Vance later posted on X, expressing gratitude for the hospitality.

He wrote, “Thank you all so much for your hospitality and kindness in welcoming me and my family to this beautiful place. It is a great credit to India that you built a beautiful temple with precision and care. Our kids, in particular, loved it. God bless.”
Following their temple visit, the Vance family also stopped by the Central Cottage Industries Emporium at Janpath to experience Indian arts and crafts. After the bilateral discussions, Prime Minister Modi is expected to host a private dinner in honor of the visiting family.
JD Vance is on a four-day visit to India, during which he will travel to Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. He is scheduled to visit Jaipur on Tuesday and Agra on Wednesday.
The visit is being viewed as a key moment in strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. According to Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit will touch on all major areas of collaboration between the two nations and is expected to further enhance the growing bilateral relationship.
