PM Modi to honor Birsa Munda at Tribal Pride Day in Jamui, Bihar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas' (Tribal Pride Day) on November 15, commemorating the birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

The event, aimed at honouring the contributions of tribal communities, will take place in Jamui, Bihar, while PM Modi will also participate virtually in a state-level celebration in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

During this ceremony, the Prime Minister will connect with beneficiaries of the PM Janman Scheme, reaffirming the government’s dedication to the welfare and pride of tribal communities.

Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is an annual observance in Chhattisgarh, celebrating the legacy of Birsa Munda, who is revered for his role in tribal resistance and social reform.

Under the leadership of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state will organise various programs across district headquarters to honour local freedom fighters and recognize the heritage of tribal communities. These events aim to inspire pride in the state’s tribal legacy while commemorating their resilience and contributions to Indian history.

Following the main celebration, special Gram Sabhas will be organised in selected villages from November 15 to November 26. These gatherings will focus on important issues such as the Forest Rights Act, the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA), and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The sessions are designed to strengthen tribal rights and promote community development at the grassroots level, supporting an inclusive approach to sustainable development in tribal regions.

In October, Prime Minister Modi announced a larger national observance honouring the 150th birth anniversaries of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and freedom fighter Birsa Munda.

During the 115th episode of his radio program, Mann Ki Baat, he highlighted the importance of honouring these leaders, noting their shared commitment to India’s unity and independence despite facing unique challenges.

The Prime Minister also recalled his visit to Ulihatu, Jharkhand, last year—the birthplace of Birsa Munda—where he paid homage to the revered leader on his birth anniversary.

Through these tributes, PM Modi continues to emphasise the importance of celebrating India’s diverse cultural heritage and inspiring pride in the contributions of its tribal leaders.
