Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a visit to Maharashtra tomorrow, marking a significant day for the state with multiple key events and inaugurations planned in Palghar and Mumbai.
The day’s schedule will commence with PM Modi addressing the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai at approximately 11 AM.
The GFF is a major event organised jointly by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council. It will feature around 800 speakers, including policymakers, senior bankers, and industry leaders, who will engage in over 350 sessions. The festival aims to highlight the latest innovations in fintech, and will also see the launch of more than 20 thought leadership reports and white papers.
Following his participation in the fintech festival, PM Modi will travel to Palghar, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects at the CIDCO ground around 1:30 PM.
One of the key highlights of his visit will be the foundation stone laying for the Wadhwan Port, a major infrastructure project with an estimated cost of Rs 76,000 crores.
This port, located near Dahanu in Palghar district, is set to become one of India’s largest deep-water ports, capable of accommodating ultra-large cargo ships and boosting trade and economic growth.
The project promises to enhance maritime connectivity, reduce transit times and costs, and create significant employment opportunities while focusing on sustainable development and minimal environmental impact.
In addition to the Wadhwan Port, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation for 218 fisheries projects worth approximately Rs 1,560 crores. These projects are designed to improve the infrastructure and productivity of the fisheries sector across the country, expected to generate over five lakh jobs.
The Prime Minister will launch the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support System, an initiative costing around Rs 360 crores. This system, developed by ISRO, will involve the installation of one lakh transponders on fishing vessels to ensure communication and safety during sea operations.
Other initiatives set to be inaugurated include the development of fishing harbours and Integrated Aquaparks, as well as the adoption of advanced technologies such as the Recirculatory Aquaculture System and Biofloc.
These efforts aim to enhance fish production, improve post-harvest management, and create sustainable livelihoods in the fisheries sector. Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for vital fishery infrastructure projects, including the modernization of fishing harbours, fish landing centres, and construction of fish markets, to improve facilities and hygienic conditions for seafood management.
