PM Modi to launch ₹2,200 crore projects in Varanasi today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday, August 2, to launch and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth an estimated ₹2,200 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday, August 2, to launch and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth an estimated ₹2,200 crore.

 

According to official information, the Prime Minister’s itinerary will cover initiatives spanning road and rail connectivity, electricity, education, tourism, water purification, and healthcare, aiming to transform the urban and rural landscape of his parliamentary constituency.

 

In a message posted on X, Modi said, “For my family members in Kashi, tomorrow, August 2, is a very special day. Around 11 in the morning, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to education, health, sports, tourism, and connectivity. On this occasion, I will also have the privilege of releasing the 20th instalment of PM-Kisan.”

 

On the connectivity front, Modi will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of major routes including the Varanasi-Bhadohi road and the Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar road.

 

He will also inaugurate a new railway overbridge at Hardattpur, which is expected to ease congestion along the busy Mohan Sarai-Adalpura stretch.

 

In addition, foundation stones will be laid for multiple urban and rural road corridors in areas such as Lahartara-Kotwa, Dalmandi, Gangapur, and Babatpur. New railway overbridges will also be constructed at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard.

 

In a significant boost to local power infrastructure, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for various works under the Smart Distribution Project and the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure, with investments totalling over ₹880 crore.

 

To strengthen tourism and cultural heritage, Modi will inaugurate the redevelopment of eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats, development works at Kalika Dham, and beautification efforts at Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur. Restoration and water purification of Durgakund are also on the agenda.

 

Foundation stones will be laid for the restoration of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple and the development of Karkhiyaon, the birthplace of several freedom fighters. City Facility Centres will come up in Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar Zones. Modi will also launch the redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral house in Lamahi and an upgrade of its museum.

 

Environmental projects include the creation of an Urban Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur, redevelopment and beautification of Shaheed Udyan, and work on 21 other parks. Additionally, water purification and maintenance works will begin at various kunds such as Ramkund, Mandakini, and Shankuldhara. Four floating pujan platforms will also be installed.

 

To improve access to potable water in rural areas, Modi will inaugurate 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

 

In the education sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the upgradation of 53 school buildings within the municipal boundary and lay the foundation for new educational facilities, including a new district library and improvements to Government High Schools at Jakhini and Lalpur.

 

Healthcare infrastructure will also see a boost. Advanced medical equipment installations, such as robotic surgery and CT scan facilities, are underway at the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital.

 

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a Homoeopathic College and Hospital, along with the inauguration of an Animal Birth Control Centre and a Dog Care Centre.
