Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bageshwar Dham on 23 February to lay the foundation stone for a cancer hospital, a significant healthcare initiative aimed at improving medical access in the region.
Ahead of the visit, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inspected preparations at the Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Centre in Khajuraho on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, he highlighted the importance of the upcoming hospital, stating that establishing cancer treatment facilities at such a revered site would be a "virtuous act" that would benefit countless patients.
“This place is a centre of faith, but if people can receive treatment for serious diseases like cancer here, it will be a great service. I congratulate everyone involved in this effort,” Yadav said.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the foundation stone for the hospital would be laid during the visit and added that Modi would also provide guidance for the Global Investors Summit, which aims to attract business and development to the region.
“PM Modi’s visit will bring multiple benefits to the region. On one hand, the cancer hospital will provide crucial healthcare services, and on the other, it will create employment opportunities for local youth,” he said.
Bageshwar Dham chief Dhirendra Krishna Shastri called the event a "historic day" for Bundelkhand, stating that preparations were in full swing to ensure a successful and grand occasion.
“This day will be a huge milestone for Bundelkhand. We are working hard to make this event a success,” Shastri said.
He added that the cancer hospital is expected to be completed and inaugurated by late 2027 or early 2028, marking a significant healthcare advancement for the region.
